about

The most serious song we have, and in ways a companion piece to 'Blood Red' on our first record. A soldiers tale, and though ostensibly set in the Victorian era easily applicable to any period of warfare.

Musically this was written in Jez's first ever rehearsal with the band, in a shabby space beside Abney Park cemetery. It's one of our most democratic songs, the words are Andy's, the central riff is Andrews, the chorus was from Marc and we assembled the whole thing together. Some of Andrew's best guitar playing.

When played live it's often accompanied by a clip from Black Adder Goes Forth.
